In a small town, on a cold winter night, on the fifth night of Chanukah, a stranger visits a darkened home lit only by a makeshift potato menorah burning in the window. The family inside will soon discover that their humble table will become laden with needed treasures to make their simple Chanukah celebration last all eight nights. Peninnah Schram's inviting story will warm the heart of each storyteller and listener as well as teach important lessons of welcoming the stranger and the true meaning of giving presents on Chanukah.

Jeffrey Allon illustrates this fine picturebook story of Chanukah, which needs good reading skills and possibly parental assistance but presents a warm seasonal story of a stranger who shares a poor family's celebrations for the holiday. Lessons in faith and friendship evolve.
